Description
Are you looking for alphabet activities for Orton Gillingham lesson plans? This TMC Phonics Focus Pack resource includes a lesson plan introducing and teaching t,i,s, and n through multisensory activities focused on phonological awareness, letter formation, decoding words, and reading connected texts where t,i,s, and n are the focus.
All products in The Multisensory Classroom, including the TMC Phonics Focus Pack series resources, are designed to follow Orton Gillingham-based instruction, and are derived from my Orton Gillingham Academy-accredited training and my doctoral dissertation research implementing Orton Gillingham in the classroom.
This resource includes the following:
- Lesson Plan– This detailed Orton Gillingham lesson plan begins with an introduction to t, i, s, and n and provides a thorough framework explaining how and when to use each product resource in this lesson and how to integrate multisensory instruction. This lesson also includes the covered Common Core standards for grades K5-3rd grade.
- Worksheets
- Letter Formation
- Roll It, Read It– a quick and easy game to practice writing each phonogram (t, i, s, n) in print and cursive
- Letter Formation– large letter tracing and handwriting lines for students to practice following dotted letters and then writing the letters on their own
- Phonological Awareness
- I Spy- identifying pictures that contain the same beginning sound
- Sentence Snapshot- drawing pictures that represent the alliterated sentence
- Letter-Sound Match- writing letters underneath each picture that contains the same beginning sound
- Posters- Two sets of posters (8 ½ x 11) can be used for classroom display to introduce and practice the phonograms. All posters come in color and black and white.
- Phonogram Posters– includes 4 posters (one for each phonogram) with the phonogram, its keyword picture, and sound
- Finger Tapping Poster- provides specific guidelines for identifying the letters t, i, s, and n as vowels or consonants and how to tap out CVC words containing these letters
- Activities
- Exit Tickets- These tickets provide a quick and easy follow-up assessment to help determine student understanding of the phonograms by matching their uppercase and lowercase letters and identifying beginning sounds. They are perfect to use in the classroom after the lesson or at the end of a tutoring session.
- Blending and Segmenting Mat (Smash It! Move It!)- this mat can be used to add in kinesthetic-tactile reinforcement as they practice blending sounds to form words and segmenting sounds to spell words
- Word Cards- There are 122 CVC word cards containing t, i, s, or n. Word cards include real and nonsense words so specific words that need additional review can be used in follow-up lessons.
Words Lists and Sentences Pages
- One page of words and sentences for each phonogram (t,i,s,n) that is flexible for students who may be stronger readers and can decode some words with phonograms not yet covered in the scope and sequence
