Medium Blends Cards

These blends cards are perfect to use with students who need review on their consonant blends.  Each card includes a brightly colored keyword to help students with letter-sound recall by adding a visual image to the sounds on the card. This product is perfect to add to the Orton-Gillingham 3-part drill during an Orton-Gillingham lesson. As students look at each card while simultaneously saying the name of the blends, the keyword picture, and the sound that it makes (Ex: sn-snap-/sn/), they are simultaneously using multiple senses, which significantly impacts their ability to recall. Cards are 3.5”x 5” and print 4 to a page.

This product includes two types of resources:

  1. 3 sets of 42 Blends Cards:

Set 1- color images with white backgrounds: only the keyword picture that coordinates with its consonant blend is in full color.

Set 2- color images with color backgrounds: all keyword pictures are in full color with a turquoise background (turquoise is the background color for all consonants)

Set 3- black and white images with white backgrounds: each file may be printed on white or colored cardstock (if using The Multisensory Classroom color phonogram cards, print on turquoise cardstock to maintain uniformity among all the consonant phonogram cards in the program).

Each of the above sets comes with a file of single-sided and double-sided blends cards. When the double-sided cards are printed (by setting printer to print on both sides of the paper), they will have the blend and keyword picture on the front side and just the blend on the back side; the single-sided cards have the blend and keyword picture on one side, with nothing on the backside.
